About the AIB
Foundation Program
During your "foundation
year," you learn and become proficient in the basics—from a
professional artist's perspective. That means, for example, you don't
only practice (and practice) drawing the world around you, you learn
how to think about what you experience and observe, about how
artists' perceptions of the world have influenced your own perceptions.
The Foundation Year gives you invaluable perspective on what it means
to be an artist. You will explore and expand your ways of seeing,
drawing, and designing.

Just a a few days left to check out the PUMA City mobile structure
located in Boston at Fan Pier. From a design perspective the
architecture is pretty dynamic and the graphic details are worth
checking out. Wear your sneakers- its a nice walk from Kenmore Square

"PUMA City is an 11,000 square-foot retail and event structure made from twenty-four, forty-foot long steel shipping containers, each weighing in at eleven tons. Built in China and designed to be a mobile retail and event unit, PUMA City was shipped to Boston via cargo ship and will be assembled at race village in Fan Pier beginning in mid-April." {via Puma City on Facebook}

Inside the Designer's Studio: Chris Pullman

Based on the popular TV show, we will be having an insightful one-on-one interview with Chris Pullman, one the founding members of the AIGA Boston chapter and who, for 35 years, served as Vice President for Design and Visual Communications for WGBH.
Interviewed by Daniel Dejan, you will hear how Chris was a young teacher at the Yale School of Art when he was recruited by Ivan Chermayeff (who had just redesigned WGBH's logo) to take charge of WGBH's in-house design department. He and his staff were responsible for the visual personality of WGBH, as expressed through its on-air titles, credits and animation, classroom materials and interactive media. Viewers of PBS will recognize Pullman's work in the opening title sequences of "Masterpiece Theatre" and "Antiques Roadshow" and the WGBH animated on-air signature, which is used at the end of every program produced by the public broadcaster.
Chris Pullman is the only person who can be said to have won not one but two of the highest possible honors from AIGA. The first was the Corporate Leadership Award, which WGBH won in 1985. The second was the AIGA Medal, which Chris himself won in 2002.

"The portraits in the book Heads and Tales are photographic
documentations of sculptures Hatry made out of animal skin and body
parts. Hatry’s intention in the anthology is to make the photographic
portraits as life-like as possible, vivid and sometimes disposed in
positions suggesting movement. She uses untreated pigskin to cover her
clay sculptures, adding raw meat for the lips and fresh pig eyes, in
order that the resulting portrait appears as if a model is looking at
the viewer with a vital expression, which the photographer has just
