Submit to the Square Inches of Love Exhibition

 

OPeX studios, a child-centric architectural design entity in Los Angeles is inviting individuals, companies, and organizations around the world to digitally submit visual content to the Square Inches of Love project, an innovative exhibition project making a large, optimistic public demonstration that the responsible use of new tools at our disposal can deliver a better tomorrow for our children.

This project’s design generates multiple levels of value from collected contributions which spans across business, pleasure, creativity, expression, education & philanthropy. Submissions fill a virtual exhibition space representing one million square inches that, when full, will be transformed into a full-scale 3D physical exhibition and taken on tour across the U.S.

Full-Time Creative Media Specialist for Aptima

Aptima currently has an opening for a Full-time Creative Media Specialist with expertise in graphic design and video production. This position will assist with the design, development, and production of a variety of multimedia products including video demonstrations, brochures, illustrations, audio/visual communications, and presentations.

Minimum Requirements:

• B.A./B.F.A. in Graphic Design
• Expert working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere at minimum; After Effects and Audition preferred)
• Conceptual skills and clear understanding of graphic design (visual design, layout, typography) and video production (editing, graphics, composition)

Additional Capabilities Sought:

• Self-motivated and sharp attention to detail; the ability to work independently or as part of a team; and the ability to manage multiple projects
• Able to understand and convert technical concepts into creative design
• Able to produce engaging, informative content for internal and external marketing

Aptima will not compensate applicants for any travel or relocation expenses to fill this position. Graphic Design Intern for Pilot Studio

Pilot is looking for a Graphic Design Intern with a few years of schooling under their belt. We work closely with a wide range of clients, particularly of the entertainment and Toy & Games industries. Our work focuses primarily on bringing concepts and brands to life in the forms of Style Guides, Packaging Guides and Look Books. 

Qualified interns will work directly on design projects so we require that the person be a self-motivated, hard working individual.

MTV Summer Fellowship Program

Introduction: 

The MTV Summer Fellowship Program is a newly created initiative that aims to provide recent college graduates (or soon to be college graduates) with opportunities throughout the MTV organization.  This 10-week program will attract the best and brightest talent with interest in multiple disciplines that encompass everything from business development and strategy to programming and creative development. Ideal candidates will have exceptional verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.  The Summer Fellowship Program will complement the existing internships currently available to college students, deepening MTV’s connection with its audience while helping to identify future network talent.

Program Basics/Requirements:

• 10 week program starting on/around Monday, June 4, 2012 and ending on/around Friday, August 10, 2012.
• Part-time position, 4 days per week (Monday – Thursday), typical business hours are 9:30AM to 5:30PM.
• Open to all students who will be May 2012 graduates.
• Competitive hourly wage.
• Bi-Weekly speaker sessions with MTV/Viacom business leaders.
• Professional mentorship and workshop opportunities.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Call For Entry -- Cell Phone Photography

Stonecrop Gallery is looking for photographic works made using cell phone cameras for inclusion in a unique installation exhibition in the heart of southern Maine. Artists can submit up to five (5) images by email for jury. Stonecrop will offer low-cost printing and framing options for all accepted pieces. Cost of submission is $10 per artist.  The exhibition will open May 26th, 2012, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 9, 2012.

Artists are responsible for picking up or arranging shipping for any work not sold by the end of the show period. The Kiernan Gallery Call For Entry: Portfolio Showcase

THEME:
Every photograph tells a story. When part of a body of work, the photograph takes on a new meaning, becoming part of a bigger and more complete narrative. A portfolio allows the photographer to explore the complexities of their subject, and provide context that  gives it richness and meaning that is more than the sum of its parts. The Kiernan Gallery is pleased to announce its first annual portfolio showcase.
 
This exhibition is a great opportunity for photographers to present an entire body of work for review. I especially encourage students who have completed or are currently working on their thesis to apply. The submission fee is $75 ($5 per image for 15 images). Details are as follows:
 
- Artists should submit a body of 10-15 images, an artist statement, and a link to your website (if applicable). 
- Artists must be prepared to ship or deliver their printed and framed work to the gallery if selected.
 - The artist statements and submitted work of all eight selected artists will be reproduced in an exhibition catalogue available for purchase.
 - All exhibiting artists will be featured on The Kiernan Gallery’s blog and website.
 - Electronic show cards will also be made for each artist.

Dan Estabrook
For over twenty years Dan Estabrook has been making contemporary art using a variety of 19th-century photographic techniques. Dan has exhibited widely and has received several awards, including an Artist's Fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts in 1994. He is also the subject of a recent documentary by Anthropy Arts. He is represented by the Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago, Daniel Cooney Fine Art in New York and Jackson Fine Arts in Atlanta. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Quick Design gig for The Friends of the Dudley Branch Library

The Friends of the Dudley Branch Library, Inc. of the Boston Public Library are hosting a "Tribute to Abbey Lincoln" on May 12, 2012, a benefit concert to support programming and improvements at the library. 

They are seeking the skills of a talented Graphics Design Student to design a flyer for this event and can provide modest compensation.
 
Attached is what is being considered as the text of a flyer. It may also include a photograph of Abbey Lincoln. They are interested in a colorful, attractive flyer which will be produced as hard copies, as well as distributed electronically.  They are desirous of a quick turn around time--perhaps four to five days.

Nickelodeon Artist Program

Developed to broaden Nickelodeon's outreach efforts, the Nickelodeon Artist Program is designed to nurture the development of emerging and diverse artists for positions within the Nickelodeon Animation Studio, while supporting their growth as creative visionaries.

Operating in a three-phased structure, the Program provides a salaried position for six months and offers hands-on experience working with established storyboard artists, background designers, character designers and more.

As part of their development, each artist will be assigned to a production and mentored by Lead Artists who supervise in the storyboard, character and background design departments. Artists will also be guided in advancing their portfolio and becoming equipped with a professional skill set. The Artist Program also offers artists a chance to understand the depth of their new skills, refine and strengthen key areas, and apply them in our real world environment.

In addition, all artists are integrated into the activities of the productions to which they are assigned. This allows the artist an opportunity to complete production relevant assignments designated by their mentor, to attend storyboard pitches, take animation tests, develop their portfolio and pitching skills, and are encouraged to interact with a writer from the Writing Program. Artists will also be able to showcase their artwork in the Nickelodeon Art Gallery.
