Pitch an idea for the AIB Centennial Celebration commercial!

Would you like a chance to become a permanent part of AIB’s history?
 
We are currently conducting a contest to pick an idea for an animated television commercial promoting AIB’s Centennial Celebration!  Yes, that’s right, AIB is turning 100 years old during the 2012/13 academic year.  And we’ll be celebrating in a variety of ways throughout the year, with special exhibitions, visiting artist talks, student and alumni exhibitions, and more.  We will also be spreading the word about AIB through advertisements, banners, billboards, and this television commercial. We are looking for some terrific visual ideas that encapsulate what our school is all about!
 
The commercial will be 30 seconds long and can be done in any visual medium that can be animated.  Your proposal for a commercial should be in the form of a visual script or storyboard of what you are proposing to have produced as an animated work.  The elements that must be included in the commercial are:

1.   our special Centennial motto “Where Ideas Take Shape.”

2.   the college’s full title:  The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University

3.   the AIB and Lesley logos

4.   each of our school’s majors (Animation, Illustration, Design, Photography, Fine Arts and Art History)

We need for the fact that it is our 100th year / Centennial Celebration to be prominent in the commercial you propose.  

Real photos and images of fine art are encouraged in your proposed commercial.

There will be a $200 prize for the commercial concept that is selected. All ideas submitted may wind up in the final commercial and all artists whose work is used in the commercial will be given credit for their contributions to the project.  A team of AIB Animation students will work together to create this commercial over the coming summer. The winner of this contest can choose whether or not they want to be a part of the animation team that works on the final project. There is no obligation to the winner other than providing the artwork that will serve as the inspiration for the commercial.
 
The deadline for submissions of proposals for this TV commercial is May 23!

Commissioned Boston Sports-Themed Murals for the Coolidge Corner Clubhouse

Owner is looking for a student, faculty member, or past alumni to do a mural in popular sports restaurant. 

The mural will be a montage of the last 4 major championships of The Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox.  The mural will be approximately 30 running feet by 8 feet high. 

Oowner would prefer someone with mural experience as this will be a high profile piece in a 23 year old very popular Brookline/Boston landmark restaurant.  The salary is negotiable.

Quick Design gig for The Friends of the Dudley Branch Library

The Friends of the Dudley Branch Library, Inc. of the Boston Public Library are hosting a "Tribute to Abbey Lincoln" on May 12, 2012, a benefit concert to support programming and improvements at the library. 

They are seeking the skills of a talented Graphics Design Student to design a flyer for this event and can provide modest compensation.
 
Attached is what is being considered as the text of a flyer. It may also include a photograph of Abbey Lincoln. They are interested in a colorful, attractive flyer which will be produced as hard copies, as well as distributed electronically.  They are desirous of a quick turn around time--perhaps four to five days.

Design/create the Second Nature Awards!

Second Nature (an environmental non-profit based in Boston) needs 30 awards made for their Annual Summit Award Winners.

General requirements:
- LOCAL & SUSTAINABLE! (Local, recycled/reused/reclaimed material ONLY)
- Relatively small (no larger than a brick)
- Lightweight
- A total of 5 by 3 inches of space in order to include/engrave text, or similar space for a plaque, if you cannot engrave. 
- Need 20 models of one kind, and 10 models of another that varies slightly.

Key Dates:
- Design concepts for both awards: April 26th, 2012
- Final 30 awards: June 8th, 2012

Benefits
- Great compensation will be provided for material and/or work.
- Verbal and written recognition by Second Nature and the ACUPCC (at our Annual Summit), a network of over 670 American institutions working achieve carbon neutrality in American Higher Education.

The Boggy-Fog Gnoo Sketch-Off: Illustrators Wanted!

Enter a fun, imaginative concept sketch of the scene described below and send it in for a shot at winning a commission to illustrate this nutty kids' book, The Boggy-Fog Gnoo!  A quick-n-dirty drawing will do fine.

Did you climb the falumphing flurburly tree that flurb’d and zurb’d your tummy?

(A little red-headed, freckle-faced girl, laughing and giggling, gets tickles and zerberts as she climbs a flurburly tree. I imagined this as a silly-faced, wonky-limbed thing with a jolly grin...but that's just me.)

If your style, imagination and energy are a good fit for this project I'll send it to every project backer for voting—including all the backers you bring to the project! The more backers you invite to vote on your entry (even for just $1), the better your chances.

What's in it for you? I'll commit 20% of the final funded amount to the winning illustrator for 10 original illustrations for the book. Get your friends backing & voting! If the project gets funded you'd be guaranteed at least $1,800.00 (or considerably more) and your work will be published in a book and as a CD sleeve.

The kickstarter website is highly visible and the project page gets thousands of views, so I'll also link out to your online portfolio or website to help generate more interest in your work.

Note: To make this Sketch-Off appealing to project backers, if by the March 23rd end date there are not at least three illustrators on board, then it won't go live. College Art Students (all disciplines) Wanted: urFirstLook

urFirstLook offers students a way to experience a major before entering college.

We are looking for a college student in any of the Arts and Design disciplines to go through a 5-day expose of their major with us. Your primary responsibility will be to instruct on one aspect of your major within those 5 days with a minimum of 2 hours for each day.

Graphic Designer/Illustrator Needed for Poster Re-design

Local man is looking to collaborate with a student/alumn with good imagination and strong graphic art skills on a poster re-design.  The poster is to memorialize an arts and entertainment project by his deceased wife.  The end result will be a printable poster and online document.

The visual theme is that of a radio show superimposed with the city of Boston (ROUGH example posted below). Artist does not need to come up with any text, but should consider where it will fit when designing the poster graphics.
