NOTICE: Updates on Project M in Belfast, Maine

PROJECT M
Project M is a program for young creative people who are already inspired to contribute to the greater good, and are looking for a platform to collaborate and generate ideas and projects bigger then themselves. 

FORMAT
Project M Belfast Blitz will be a 5 day long workshop session in Belfast, ME with 10–12 creative people starting March, 12th and finishing on March, 17st. The Project M Facilitator for this is Marc O’Brien. Ben Gaydos will be the AIB coordinator/Project M Facilitator.

THINKING WRONG
The human brain tends to think along predetermined linear thought pathways. Such linear thinking can inhibit true innovation and creative exploration. Project M will encourage, and provide techniques for “thinking wrong” to generate new ideas and design directions.

WHO SHOULD JOIN PROJECT M?
This workshop was developed for passionate young creative people. Students and professionals from any industries encourage to apply.

FEES
Project M is not a school and has no tuition. Every attending person will share the expenses of producing Project M. The expenses will be $600 each. Some M’ers have been very creative about raising this amount. Travel to and from Belfast, ME and incidental expenses are in addition to this amount. Housing, group meals, and project materials are included.

AIB STUDENTS
Potential independent study (Summer or Fall 2012) with Lesley faculty/Project M alumni Albert Liau.

HOW TO APPLY?
1. Head to www.projectmlab.com and learn about previous Blitzes, workshops, and projects.
2. Email Marc O’Brien at info@projectmlab.com by 2/20 with the subject line “Belfast Blitz”. In the email, please explain why you want to participate in this. He will contact the participates by 2/16 for more information about logistics and procedures.

The Newton Art Center Call to Artists and Curators

The New Art Center in Newton (NAC) is currently accepting proposals for exhibitions for 4 to 5 week exhibitions in the 2012-2013 exhibition cycle (September 2012 – May 2013) to be installed in the Main Gallery of the New Art Center in Newton.  The Center has a 33-year tradition of using the Main Gallery for group exhibitions (two persons or more) curated by an exhibiting artist or independent curator.  Since May 1991 we have continued this tradition through a public call for proposals.

Deadline and Dates:
The in-our-hands (not postmarked) deadline for the receipt of proposals is April 9, 2012.  There will be no extensions.  COP awards will be announced to the recipients in June of 2012.  If a SASE or packages with return postage is included, CDs will be mailed back by the end of June 2012.  No phone calls please.  
 
The New Art Center will determine the time slot for COP exhibitions.  Lack of scheduling flexibility must be stated in the application.

Looking for a platform to drive positive change, challenge the status quo, and "think wrong" in the process?

Welcome to Project M.

Project M is a program for creative people who are already inspired to contribute to the greater good, and are looking for a platform to collaborate and generate ideas and projects bigger then themselves.

Project M 2 Week Sessions:

For two weeks, selected participants from all over, will converge in a community to engage, discover, and produce a sustainable project that will have a positive and significant impact in the world.

M'ers will step away from their normal environment and expand their view on the world around them. Project M Advisors facilitate the session, equipped with an arsenal of think wrong exercises that will be applied during the creative process.

Participants will take sole responsibility of conceiving and executing whatever comes out of the two week session. The result is a shared and collaborative effort.

Elsewhere Collaborative Residency/Fellowship/Internship Opportunities -- Deadlines extended!

Elsewhere is now accepting residency, fellowship, and internship applications for its 2012 season. APPLICATION DEADLINES EXTENDED to December 15.

Elsewhere, a living museum set inside a former thrift store, invites creatives of all kinds to create site-specific projects that respond to our that respond to our collection, community, and concepts. Elsewheres 58-year collection of surplus and thrift, no longer for sale, now serves as resource for creative and critical projects across media. We are seeking individuals and groups who are responsive, experimental, inventive, holistic, adaptive, radical, inclusive, and process-oriented to join our vibrant community of other resident artists and scholars, staff, interns, volunteers, and members.
