AIB Senior Illustration Exhibition

On Friday April 27th, in AIB's Main Gallery, the Illustration Department proudly opened the exhibition that featured the work of 21 graduating Illustration Seniors. The show was well attended due in part to the standing room only crowd exiting the PIXAR event hosted by both the Animation and Illustration Departments, that preceded the senior opening.

LARRY HAMA : A Multi-Talented Storyteller

Larry Hama the multi-talented storyteller is comming to AIB!

Artist talk is Friday April 6, from 6pm-730pm
at AIB 700 Beacon St - Room 215.

Hama is a: Comics writer (14-years on G.I. Joe and 7 years on Wolverine), comics editor (8 years at Marvel Comics), comics artist (Marvel Premiere, G.I. Joe, and Daredevil), freelance illustrator (Esquire, National Lampoon), storyboard artist (Activision’s X2: Wolverine’s Revenge video game and HBO’s The Sopranos), and currently, NYU’s 2011-2012 Artist-in-Residence.

Students and alumni are invited to an informative artist’s talk on visual storytelling. This is a great experience for students and alumni to hear about first hand experience in a wide variety of formats dealing with the world of comics!

Year of the Dragon Group Show @ FOE Gallery

Year of the Dragon Group Show
March 9-April 8. Opening reception Friday, March 9th 6-9pm. 

FOE celebrates the first of their second year of art openings with the “Year of the Dragon” group show.  Dragons and dragon mythology have inspired artists for over 2000 years.  Come out to see works by local and international artists, including AIB's Illustration faculty Ryan Maguire (shown below), as they interpret the legendary, mythical creature.  Eastern dragons are characterized as a benevolent force bringing good fortune and prosperity.  They adorn temples and are depicted in artwork, literature and film.  In the 2012 year of the dragon we should all try to channel our positive power to radiate goodwill and blessings, or at least, look at some cool dragon art.  The show will remain up through Sunday, April 8th.

Tak Toyoshima's Asian Americana

Dig Boston's Tak Toyoshima's upcoming show, Asian Americana, will be displaying new works featuring his comic strip character Secret Asian Man. Come see Tak's Secret Asian man standing in for iconic American figures including: Michael Jackson, Clint Eastwood, Captain America and More!

Opening Reception will be on Monday March 5th, 2012 at ZuZu bar and lounge in Central Square. The reception starts at 8pm until 10pm. The reception will be followed by a live musical performance by Viva Viva's Chris Warren at 10 pm. Check it out!!
